Owning a Piece of History & Heritage: The Story of Mata Ni Pachhedi art

Mata Ni Pachhedi, meaning “behind the Mother Goddess” in Gujarati, is a unique art form born from devotion, now recognized with a Geographical Identification (GI). Centuries ago, the Vaghari community, excluded from traditional temples, created their own vibrant shrines using cloth – the Mata Ni Pachhedi. These are the windows to the divine, handcrafted with love and passed down through generations.

Each Pachhedi is a one-of-a-kind artwork, traditionally made with natural dyes. Owning one is not just about getting a beautiful textile, it’s about preserving a precious cultural tradition, supporting the family’s artistic legacy and welcoming the blessings of the Mother Goddess into your home.
